Kären, a native of Northern Wisconsin, earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Music Education from Winona State University, a Master’s of Education from the University of Wisconsin River Falls, and a Master’s of Reading from Concordia College of Mequon.  As a music educator for over twenty-five years, she currently teaches middle school choirs and general and adaptive music for the Hayward Community School District.  


As an active musician, Kären has been a member of multiple auditioned performing groups from high school to present some of which include three years with Wisconsin School Music Association’s (WSMA) High School State Honors Choir, numerous college honor choirs, and presently, Ave Generosa. She has been a featured soloist in concerto competition concerts and National Association of Teachers of Singing state finals. Kären is a current member of the National Association for Music Educators, National Association of Teachers of Singing, and National Association of Reading Teachers.


Kären is married and the mother of two young men, Payton and Sawyer.  Evenings and weekends are spent teaching private studio lessons, attending her younger son’s multiple college performances, and rehearsing to lead/accompany worship on Sunday mornings.
